The gaze drifts apart / Blicken glider isär
Installation in mixed media: painting on canvas, textile, paper and walls, and video projections
"When Anna Nyberg works with painting it usually results in large spatial installations.
The painterly objects relate to the walls, and floors of the exhibition gallery- in the encounter with these, new spatialities emerge, both real and imaginary. Here, the body´s own perceptive ability to take in knowledge from surroundings is challenged. By allowing the viewer to experience the place from the inside, she wants to create an awareness of our own existence.
In her work, Nyberg examines the gap between the inner and the outer experience of reality. She seamlessly blends the physical presence of the place with the emotions and imaginations of the inner experience. In her spatial installation, she wants to make this comlex play visibly and allow the viewer to examine how things relate to each other. Where is the boundary between thought and matter?
The order is not given a shift has taken both in meaning and place. A two-dimensional textile painting stretches and twists out in the air. It wants to limit, dissolve and expand the space in the air that is otherwise invisible to the eye, where the viewer is in the middle of the work."
